Personal Observations
If you have filed bankruptcy, the very worst thing that you could ever do is to NOT reestablish your credit!

A couple of secured credit cards is perhaps the easiest method to put you back in the game.  Financing an inexpensive vehicle is another -- but you must first ask whether your payments will be reported to one or more credit reporting agencies.

In a perfect world, Natural Law might keep everyone's morals and ethics in check.  On the other hand, our beloved Congress seems to think that these "Unnatural" Acts are required to remind everyone of the boundaries that the ethically- or morally-challenged individual might chose to blur.

Below are the full texts of the various consumer credit protection, housing, and finance related Acts which are implemented and enforced by the Federal Trade Commission among other governmental regulators.  U.S. Code descriptions follow the hypertext link to each Act in parentheses, and cites are indicated beneath each reference.  Several Acts feature downloadable Adobe Acrobat .PDF format documents, as indicated in brackets to the right.

If this concise collection of mind-numbing legal documents has not yet bored you silly or rendered you completely catatonic, Real Estate and Mortgage professionals may relish in the extended list of links that may be reviewed from our Compliance page.  Gluttons for punishment may also participate.

Search other Federal Regulations and Public Laws using the CFR and US Code search engines.  Alternately, US Code may be searched from our US Code Search page or from the Legal Information Institute search engine at Cornell University.  And if you wish to know more about State laws regarding debt, credit, and bankruptcy, may I suggest that you visit LawDog.com -- one very cool site for such matters.  (Caveat:  I am not a lawyer, I just play one on the Internet.  This website is not to be construed as offering any form of legal advice; the content is merely presented for educational purposes.)

Kindly advance to our Debt & Credit Tips page for a host of FTC consumer bulletins, which I promise is largely devoid of legal jargon or cites.
