Personal Observation
You must check your credit at least once a year for unauthorized use of your personal information and proper reporting.  Simply go to Annualcreditreport.com for a free "credit report" (consumer disclosure -- with no scores).  If you intend to purchase or refinance a home, however, contact ScottSecor.com to apply for a mortgage or pre-qualify for a loan.  As an integral function of your application you will be given an analysis of your credit with timely tips to improve your scores.  I charge nothing and you will receive scores for all three bureaus.

Welcome to our modest library of useful publications.  These should assist in making your choices (and your life) a bit easier.  Click on the hypertext link of the desired publication to begin downloading.  Each publication is delivered as an Adobe Acrobat .PDF file (click the Adobe link to install the latest  Acrobat Reader ).  Please check back often since publications are added or updated from time to time.  Thank you.
 MISTAKES DO HAPPEN 2004
Download Mistakes Do Happen 2004 The National Association of State Public Interest Research Groups conducted a survey on the overall accuracy of credit reports.  The results were astonishing!  79% of all credit reports in the survey contained errors!  54% of credit reports contained personal demographic information that was misspelled, outdated, belonged to another party, or was otherwise inaccurate.  30% of the reports contain credit accounts closed by the consumer that were still listed as open and active.  25% of the credit reports contained errors that may result in credit denials (e.g., false delinquencies, accounts belonging to others).  22% of the reports contained duplicate tradelines.  Nearly 8% of the credit reports were missing vital account data that demonstrates creditworthiness. 19 pages
 CREDIT RESTORATION

Here are 25 examples of useful dispute and request letters that comprise our impromptu "do-it-yourself credit restoration kit".  This must not be construed as any manner of legal advice, however.  These are simply examples we supply for educational purposes.  All are in Microsoft Word .doc format for easy editing.

Remember to mail all communications with creditors and collectors by Certified or Registered Mail with a Return Receipt Request.  Maintain a detailed log of any telephone conversations and keep copies of all letters.
